Monthly Salsa workshop: Cuban Salsa Partner Figures for Dancers
. Duration:1 hr 30 mins··. Price:$15
A Casino (Cuban Salsa) crash course for dancers! Great if you're trained in other dance styles and want to try something different and get out of your comfort zone or if you're curious about Salsa and Cuban dance.
This 90-min workshop will move quickly with a brief overview of the basics first, then followed by diving straight into some fun new figures that are characteristic of Cuban Salsa. This class is designed to help you feel more confident when dancing at Latin social dances (for leads and follows) and is geared towards dancers with training in other dance styles or different styles of Salsa (ballet, contemporary, modern, Hip Hop, jazz, ballroom, step dance, burlesque, belly dance, latin dance or swing styles).
Participants should have a dance background of some kind to handle the amount of skills taught in this one class.
Wear comfortable shoes that don't stick too much against the floor.
Victoria says:
Coming from a background of over 16 years in competitive figure skating, I've only recently gotten more into different types of dance such as contemporary dance as well as Cuban Salsa and some Tango.
I fell in love with Cuban Salsa after getting introduced to this dance style through my boyfriend, who is originally from Cuba. The fact that it's a street dance there and all types of people of different ages enjoy dancing it over there is something that especially drew me to this as that separates it from all other styles of Salsa.
As someone with Latin roots who grew up speaking Spanish and listening to Latin music, dance has always had a special place in my heart.

Belly Dance, Cairo Style.
"Join our belly dance class and discover the joy of movement while improving coordination and posture. You’ll learn the basics of belly dance with a solid foundation in technique, helping you release stress and feel the freedom of your body through graceful, energizing new moves, while nurturing the mind–body connection that leaves you feeling balanced and revitalized."
My goal is to share and broadcast my love for dance thorough my experience to students. Teacher Erika's Bellydance training consists of seminars, workshops and private classes taken with Egyptian, Iraqi, and Iranian teachers. She was offered to teach classes for dance teachers and students in Egypt within the "Sagat" Festival in El Cairo, Egypt. Receiving an acknowledgment from the "Cioff" (The Egyptian Council of Folklore, Arts, Groups and Festival). Graduated from the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature in Mexico City in Contemporary Dance.

Lindy Hop and Charleston are the original swing dances from the 1920s, 30s, and 40s. Continuing dancers will learn Lindy Hop and Charleston steps and sequences to add to their existing repertoire, solo jazz moves to sprinkle in, and jazz routines to put it all together.
A basic foundation of Lindy Hop and Charleston is recommended to take these classes.
No partner required.
This class is 60 minutes with 30 minutes of additional practice time.
Jordi has danced Lindy Hop and Charleston, the original Swing dances, since 2016. In addition to teaching at DownStreet, he is always actively taking classes in various dance styles, participating in swing dance workshops across Atlantic Canada, and learning from international teachers. In 2019 and 2021 he performed Lindy Hop routines at PEI's own Dancing with the Stars Hospice PEI event, and received the Judges' Choice and People's Choice awards. It's the goofy nature of this dance that always keeps him laughing and he is excited to share the joy with all those who want to continue learning this dance.
