She was offered to teach classes for dance teachers and students in Egypt within the "Sagat" Festival in El Cairo, Egypt. We're back with open practice 1940s swing dance for all levels. We will be teaching a variety of swing dance variations, including Lindy Hop, Charleston, Blues, Solo Jazz, and some choreographed dances. We'll adapt the class level and subjects based on the level of participants, so these classes are very suited to beginners and continuing dancers alike. Bring your friends or come alone and join our fun dance community.
Jordi has danced Lindy Hop and Charleston, the original Swing dances, for many years. In addition to teaching at DownStreet, he is always actively taking classes, participating in swing dance workshops across Atlantic Canada, and learning from international teachers. In 2019 he performed a Lindy Hop routine at PEI's own Dancing with the Stars Hospice PEI event, and received the Judges Choice award. It's the goofy nature of this dance that always keeps him laughing and he is excited to share the joy with anyone wanting to try Lindy Hop, or wanting to get back into it.
This multi-talented dancer has also been teaching the Thriller choreography for about 5 years and enjoys performing it every Halloween!

Our goal is for students to complete this 6-part session feeling like they have a solid grasp of Tango fundamentals, and are eager and ready to continue towards complex figures introduced in the following session.
Please bring shoes that allow you to pivot in place (these can also be regular shoes with slip-covers).
No partner required.
The current six week class concludes on October 16th and a new six week class begins on October 30th.

Kathleen Wiens kickstarted her dance journey as a student of the Professional Division of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. For 20 years, she has made the social dance-floor a second home while living in LA, Phoenix, Montreal, Winnipeg and across Europe. She brings a legacy learning from her former teachers, each a world champion in their style. She was a member and performer with Liz Lira Dance Company (Los Angeles), UCLA Salsa Society, Imperial Ballroom IDS (Phoenix), and San Tropez (Montreal). After dabbling with Argentine Tango for a decade, she finally saw the light and made a full-time commitment to the magic of the close embrace. Her classes are an invitation for all to find their place in this magical and surprisingly accessible dance!

Through Argentine Tango, you will feel connected, find community, and feed your soul! In this block of classes, we will explore open and closed embrace and focus on navigation, corners, and movements that flow in the milonga line of dance. We will work on communication through walking and ochos in the cross body position, and introduce Molinetes and Boleos. We will begin combining these and previously studied figures.
To get the most from this class, learners should have a solid grasp of lead and follow communication (in open embrace), forward and backward ochos, and understand the basics of walking in the line of dance (in milonga or practica context).
Please bring shoes that allow you to pivot on the spot (could include regular shoes with a slip-cover).
